about
My first step to becoming an artist, though I didn’t know it at the time, was purchasing original art wherever I went. Having art in my home initialized and energized my painting practice. I’ve always tried to create and frame art to fit into your home, simply.
My oil painting practice is continually evolving, and I use the changing light in scenery to inform my abstracts, always fascinated by finding new ways to convey what I see with color.
In 2016 I moved to Colorado from NYC where I had studied oil painting with a Harlem-based artist, bartering modeling for oil painting instruction and mentoring. I’ve painted in Riverside Park, Central Park, Prospect Park, the Catskills, and more.
NYC gave me the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, smaller museums, galleries, and artists’ studios to wonder at and study. I modeled for and learned from incredibly talented instructors at the School of Visual Arts and Columbia University’s Teacher’s College, and many other mentors.
Here in Denver I’ve donated paintings to charity fundraising efforts including for Bayaud Enterprises and Cobalt Advocates, sold paintings at the Art in the Highlands Holiday Market, and modeled at Metro State University and the Community College of Denver. Most recently, I have done alla prima studies in Idaho Springs and my front yard.
